First Lady Melania Trump will be hospitalized for an entire week after undergoing kidney surgery Monday morning, according to a statement by the White House.

The embolization procedure was performed at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center to treat a benign condition. The statement further added that the surgery “was successful and there were no complications.”
“The First Lady looks forward to a full recovery so she can continue her work on behalf of children everywhere,” said a statement from the first lady’s communications director, Stephanie Grisham.

On his way to the hospital, the president posted a tweet chastising White House leakers and the ‘Fake News Media’.

News about Trump’s surgery comes a week after she unveiled an anti-bullying initiative she planned to focus on during her tenure as First Lady.
The “Be Best” campaign aims to address the “social, emotional, and physical health” of children, with three pillars: well-being, social media, and opioid abuse.
