Despite missing a few limbs, this chihuahua won’t let anything stop her from living the best puppy life.
Daffodil was born with a congenital forelimb deformity, resulting in the underdevelopment of her two front legs.
When she was born, no one wanted her. The sweet little thing was found abandoned inside a cardboard box in the streets of San Francisco. A good Samaritan found her and took her to a nearby rescue center, which happened to be San Francisco SPCA.
Her heroes, the veterinary staff at the rescue center, decided to outfit the tiny tot with custom-made wheels for legs to help her move around by herself.
After a bit of practice, little Daffodil was able to walk and run around single-handedly — er, double-footedly.
According to their website, “a crowd of staff and volunteers gathered to watch and cheer for little Daffodil as she took her first steps strapped into her new wheels vest. She was fearless!”
Daffodil’s charm did not escape veterinary technician Olivia Kong, who soon adopted the pooch from the rescue centre.
To celebrate the date when the little pup was found, Olivia took Daffodil on her very first hike — in pink wheels! And boy, can she run:
