This marks the first time the former ‘Suits’ actress will tend to her Royal duties without her husband, Prince Harry.

Both ladies travelled up to chester on the royal train, and were welcomed with polite handshakes and curtsies from local dignitaries, and massive applause from hundreds of eager schoolchildren.

The day will include opening the Mersey Gateway Bridge and Storyhouse Theatre, and is regarded as an important induction of sorts for the newlywed Meghan into the busy yet fulfilling life of a royal.

It also allows the rookie Meghan to learn the ropes firsthand by observing the Queen, who has an entire lifetime of training under her belt.

But arguably the pair’s most important appearance was when talented schoolchildren performed ‘Bringing Communities Together: Halton’s River Crossings Over The Ages’ in their honor.

The Queen unveiled a plaque at the bridge, as well as a second plaque at the theatre.

Grange Hill and Brookside creator Phil Redmond and wife Alexis were among those who greeted the royals as they disembarked from the platform.

Mrs. Redmond said: “It’s fantastic to have them here and it’s a big day for Cheshire.”
