After learning that his son had been bullying other students at school, a Florida father wanted to teach him a lesson he’ll never forget.
When Michael Yager found out that his son, 13-year-old Jacob, had been tormenting other classmates at New Smyrma Beach Middle School, he came up with a unique solution.

He made Jacob stand on a busy street corner wearing a sign that said: “I’m a bully. Honk if you hate bullies.”

With his father parked nearby, the teen boy stood near Road 442, while people drove by hondking their horns in agreement.
“I figured I would teach him a lesson that would embarrass him and make him feel how the kids feel,” Michael said in an interview.

The more concerned passers-by pulled over to speak with the father and son. Several people applauded Michael for his unusual teaching methods, saying that Jacob was learning a vauable life lesson.
But other weren’t so keen on the idea.
“I had one woman come up and call me every name in the book. In my mind I thought I was doing the right thing, but I guess you just can’t please everyone.”

As for Jacob, the teen had a positive takeaway from the experience. He admitted he learned his lesson and now wants to be a friend to his classmates instead of a bully.
“You never know what someone can be going through. If you want to be the bully, like if you have something inside you need to tell someone go to a guidance counselor or someone,” Jacob said.
