Like any other parent to young kids, Matthew Blake has a hard time getting his two boys, Oliver and Jeremy, to eat healthy food during mealtime.

“I don’t often get a chance to cook for the boys as I work so much, so when I do get the chance I try and make an effort to give them something they will enjoy and be healthy,” Blake said.

But no matter how many hours he slaves over their dinner, his little diners seem hell-bent on being the toughest food critics on the block. So Blake came up with a plan.

“It actually started a couple of weeks ago at the start of the school summer holidays,” Blake explained. “I was cooking a simple meal of chicken and rice for the boys, who thoughtfully told me it sounded disgusting and would refuse to eat it.”

The pair even told their dad they wished they’d have gone to a fast food restaurant instead — ouch.

So Blake came up with an ingenious way to get them to eat his homecooked food: “I told them it was Dad-a-mamas (i.e. Dad’s Wagamamas) and they ate it!” Blake said. “I tried some and it was pretty gross… so it must be the power of branding.”

With his new home-grown businesses, “Daddy Donalds” and “DadWay”, not only do his boys get healthy, delicious meals, Blake also gets to have fun brainstorming fresh ideas for meals and logos. Win-win!

Oliver even asked if “Daddy-Donalds” could cater his 10th birthday party. Minus the branding of course, because that would be sooooo embarrassing.
