This is Cami, and she has autism. In this photo, she’s wearing her favorite shirt which she started wearing 5 years ago in kindergarten. Since then, her parents found four of the exact same shirt mostly through eBay.
For Cami, a sense of comfort and security is hard to achieve, but for some reason wearing this specific shirt helps.
But her last remaining shirt is almost unwearable now, and eBay’s supplies have run out. So Cami’s mom, Deborah, did the next best thing: she took to Facebook to ask for help.
Within hours of posting, everyone — from friends to total strangers — started messaging her in droves. A week later, she had the shirt she was looking for, and more!
As of last count, they already found Cami a total of 78 shirts, as well as dozens of offers to make teddy bears, pillows, blankets, and other keepsakes out of the extra fabric.
Tami wrote a lovely response for all the people who have pitched in for her daughter, saying, “People are inherently good and kind, and I’m glad I’ve been able to be a recipient of that kindness. May God bless you all!”
